TU President stated that there is a plan to establish a research center to localize research and research expertise

TU President Dr. Husam bin Abdulwahhab Zaman stressed the importance of the vision of the Deanship of Academic Research in the University and its criteria in selecting the fields and subjects of scientific research. He pointed out the need to support scientific research according to institutional priorities as set out in Saudi Vision 2030. On the sidelines of a workshop organized by the Deanship of Academic Research to discuss the priorities of academic research, TU President praised the efforts made by the Deanship to develop scientific research and build a distinct profile for the University in the field of scientific research.

The Dean of Academic Research Dr. Khalid Al-Sawat said that the University is in the process of establishing a specialized research center aimed at localizing the research process and research experience and allowing all researchers to carry out their scientific research under a research umbrella belonging to the university, in addition to providing scientific research in various fields to the governorate of Taif.

On the other hand, the Vice Dean of Academic Research Dr. Walaa Al-Sani’ presented the most important research projects proposed by TU colleges, which were classified by the Deanship in terms of their importance into seven divisions: 1) research on high altitude regions (including Taif); 2) development of the educational process; 3) research projects on competency-based learning methods; 4) research on basic sciences, which includes nanotechnology and its applications, non-conventional sources of pollution, nuclear and radiation research and other topics; 5) research on agricultural and veterinarian sciences; 6) research on land and water; 7) research on livestock development, damage to the environmental conditions of the Taif area, pest control and reduced use of chemicals, and the conservation of plant and animal genetic resources.

Dr. Al-Sani’ said that the proposed research projects also include medical sciences, pharmaceuticals, dentistry and human medicine. Its priorities include oncology, immunology, blood diseases, obesity and its complications, stem cells, oral diseases and dental implants, the development and discovery of plants and medicinal drugs, infectious diseases, and community preventive and curative health research.

The workshop also dealt with research topics related to engineering sciences, including research on renewable energy, petroleum materials, the development of national network architecture, ICT and computers, information security research, artificial intelligence, software development, the internet, social and human sciences, including psychological and neurological research, the relationship between language, culture and identity, the history of Taif and Okaz souk, research on contemporary issues, intellectual extremism and terrorism, combating corruption, national tourism, art and the national heritage.
